American Secretary of Education nominee Betsy DeVos is a threat to students with disabilities according to : mcgilltribune

As it stated in DeVos is extremely unqualified for the position of Secretary of Education, due her lack of knowledge on public education and her views of IDEA.
Betsy DeVos, whom President Donald Trump has nominated as Secretary of Education, terrifies me.
Guidelines set by the IDEA enabled me to succeed in a public education system because this law put me on an equal playing field as the rest of my classmates.
If a school decides to allocate more money to a sports program and cut funds for students with disabilities—potentially violating IDEA guidelines—it sets disabled students up for failure.
In the questioning, DeVos also did not seem to understand the difference between proficiency and growth.

American Secretary of Education nominee Betsy DeVos is a threat to students with disabilities

as mentioned in The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee convenes Tuesday for a committee vote on the nomination of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education.
Sen. Lamar Alexander rejected a Democrat’s request for a second hearing with Betsy DeVos, sparing Trump’s pick for secretary of education from what would surely be a contentious hearing.
Democrats also pushed DeVos about her desire to push for more access to charter, home and religious schools as Secretary of Education.
“We were extremely disappointed at what happened at the hearing last week for Elisabeth ‘Betsy’ DeVos, President Trump’s nominee to be Secretary of Education,” Murray wrote in her letter to Alexander.
“I do not know why our committee should treat a Republican nominee so differently than the nominee of a Democratic president.”It is no surprise that Alexander would not allow a second event.

Syracuse parents: Vote ‘no’ on Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary (Your letters)

as mentioned in To the Editor:As parents of students at Edward Smith K-8 School in Syracuse, we are dismayed by the nomination of Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary.
DeVos has no experience in government and no experience running a large organization.
Her only background in education is donating large sums in support of policies promoting private school vouchers.
She failed to prepare for her confirmation hearing, showing a complete lack of knowledge of basic education policy issues.
Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer for opposing this appointment, and we stand ready to work with our local school board and our elected officials to support quality public education for our children.
