Donahue tells the Economic Club of Canada that he is to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and some of his advisers later today.
Tom Donahue is delivering that message to a business luncheon gathering.
He says there are ways to improve the 23-year-old trade deal among Canada, Mexico and the United States and there’s potential to create a stronger agreement that will improve North America’s overall competitiveness with the rest of the world.

Tom Donohue told the Economic Club of Canada that “the jobs of 14 million Americans depend on the agreement.”
“We do $670 billion in bilateral goods and services trade annually,” Donohue said of trade between the U.S. and Canada.
“Let me say right up front that withdrawing from NAFTA would be devastating for the workers, businesses and economies of our countries,” Donohue said.

Donohue’s Canadian counterpart, Perrin Beatty, called on the Trudeau government to begin consultations with businesses on the way forward on NAFTA.
“I don’t expect Congress will do things to do a favour for Canada,” he said.
Hollande and Trudeau discussed the upcoming G7 and NATO summits later this spring, gatherings that Trump is expected to attend.
