Survey Finds Magic Mushrooms Safest Recreational Drug, But Caution Still Advised – Normangee Star. The Global Drug Survey released on Wednesday reveals that magic mushrooms are among the safest recreational drugs.
This is an incredibly low rate, and represents almost a fifth of the rate for other drugs, such as methamphetamines, cocaine, or even alcohol.
Before getting excited, keep in mind that the results of a survey lack scientific evidence.
Moreover, this evidence shows that the drug might have some beneficial effects for people struggling with anxiety or depression.
Mushrooms send less people to the emergency room than alcoholThe survey questioned people on their drug habits, and discovered that only 0.2 percent of the 10,000 who reported taking mushrooms needed medical assistance after consuming the drug.
as declared in Alcohol and marijuana may be the most commonly used recreational drugs in the world, but “magic” mushrooms appear to be the safest, a new survey finds.
But Winstock also calls mushrooms “one of the safest drugs in the world”, noting that the bigger risk was people picking and eating the wrong mushrooms.
Outside of recreational use, magic mushrooms have been shown in clinical trials to treat severe depression and anxiety.
The survey, of more than 120,000 participants in 50 countries, found that the rates of emergency medical treatment for MDMA, LSD, alcohol and cocaine were nearly five times higher.
Drugs including methamphetamine and synthetic cannabis had the highest rates of users needing emergency medical attention, with 4.8 percent and 3.2 percent of users, respectively, being hospitalized in 2016.

as declared in Adam Winstock, the addiction psychiatrist who founded of the Global Drug Survey, made a very interesting assessment about dependency.
The annual Global Drug Survey has concluded that magic mushrooms — surely you remember those — have been deemed the safest recreational drug out there today.
Only a small percentage, 0.2% in fact, needed medical attention as a result.
In contrast 0.6% of the marijuana smokers needed medical attention as a result; making it the second least dangerous drug, according to the study.
The survey covered 120,000 from 50 different countries and more than 12,000 reported that they had taken “magic” mushrooms in 2016.
