Opium problem declaration welcomed in Florida

Opium problem

President Donald Trump’s declaration Thursday of the Opium problem as a national emergency can provide needed help in Florida, where deaths from that family of drugs soared 21 percent in 2015.
“Thank you @POTUS for declaring the Opium problem a national emergency.
The president’s decision comes after his Commission on Combating Drug Addiction & the Opium problem recommended the U.S. “rapidly increase curing capacity.” The commission found that just 10percent of drug curing facilities provide medication-assisted curing for Opium abuse.
During that time, Florida citrus production has declined over 60 percent.
The bipartisan measure would authorize $25 million in annual funding until a cure to citrus greening is found.
