At least eight people are sick by Shiga toxin-producing Ecoli after spending time at the Mesa province Fair, that ran from July 25-29 in Grand Junction.
Mesa province Public Health officials have been working by representatives from the fair & those who became sick to find the source of the illness.

Minnesota Department of Health epidemiologists tell they can not find a specific source of the bacteria, even after checking typical sources like food & swimming facilities.
Scheftel said there have been no extra Ecoli contagions involving the same strain of the bacteria.
Officials tell this type of bacteria can be found in food & animals, even those that are healthy.

as mentioned in A state investigation was unable to find what caused an Ecoli infection that led to the death of a 3-year-old Wright province girl & seriously sickened her 5-year-old brother.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to of identify the source of the children’s infections,” said state public health veterinarian Joni Scheftel of the Minnesota Health Department.
Although the children had visited a petting zoo, that can be a possibility source of Ecoli contamination, health officials ruled it out after tests.
“In particular, we did’nt find a connection by a petting zoo that the children visited, despite extensive testing of the animals,” said Scheftel.
Scheftel said there have been no other reported statuses of infection by the same strain of Ecoli & that monitoring will still to look for other statuses that probably lead to the source of the infection.
