A Five-year-old girl is unconscious & two others are in infirmary after a status of food poisoning from a batch of potato salad sold at a supermarket deli counter here.
A total of eight people aged four to 60 who ate the potato salad purchased at the “Delicious” deli counter in the Shokusaikan Marche supermarket branch here reported food poisoning symptoms including diarrhea.
The Saitama Prefectural Kumagaya Health Center has determined the potato salad as the cause of the outbreak, & suspended business at the “Delicious” deli for three days starting from Aug. 21 based on the Food Sanitation Act.
According to prefectural authorities, the potato salad was produced by a company outside Saitama Prefecture.
The deli then added ham, apple & other extra ingredients & put it on sale starting Aug. 7.

The preys all ate potato salad sold at the Shokusaikan Marche Kagohara supermarket in the city of Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, the prefecture said.
According to Saitama Prefecture, the supermarket’s deli — Derishasu Kagohara — procured the potato salad from a food-processing factory from outside the prefecture, then mixed cut pieces of ham & apples.
Fresh Corp., a Gunma-based supermarket & deli store chain, said no other outlets have reported statuses of food poisoning.
It’s the time of year when we ought fear (food poisoning),” she said.
Food processing plant probed over potato salad related Ecoli poisoning in Saitama, Gunma
as mentioned in The city government of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, has conducted on-site inspections at a food processing plant after potato salad produced there caused an outbreak of Ecoli food poisoning, city officials said Wednesday.
During inspections conducted on Monday & Wednesday, officials looked into manufacturing processes at the plant, that shipped tainted potato salad that found its way to delicatessens in Gunma & Saitama prefectures, according to the city.
Officials also took samples of the salad made during the same period as the contaminated food to conduct further tests.
The operator of the businesses based in Ota, Gunma, sold bagged potato salad shipped from the plant after mixing it by ham & apple pieces, according to the Saitama Prefectural Government.
A total of 14 people who ate potato salad purchased on Aug. seven or eight have complained of stomach aches or other symptoms, & the bacteria was detected in ten of the people suffering symptoms.
