while others may have symptoms in just one category.

Eating disorders:

Eating disorders, such as anorexia nervous, nervous exhaustion and food obsessive disorder,

are serious and life-threatening situations.

Children can become preoccupied with food and weight so that they are less focused on other things.

Schizophrenia

This chronic mental illness makes children lose their contact with reality (psychosis),

and often shows schizophrenia in late adolescence until their twenties.

Mood disorders:

Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder,

can cause children to have a constant sense of grief or extreme mood swings,

more than the normal mood swings of many people.

What do you do when you find out that your child is suffering from mental illness?

If you are concerned about your child’s psychological health, consult your pediatrician.

Describe the behavior you are concerned about.

Consider talking to your child’s teacher, close friends, loved ones, or other carers to see if they have noticed any changes to your child’s behavior.

Share this information with your child’s doctor as well.
